Why are commercial trucks so dangerous?

On Behalf of | Aug 31, 2018 | Trucking Accident Defense

Commercial trucks are the backbone of the economy in Kentucky and throughout the rest of the country. The more of these trucks you encounter on the road, the better the economy is performing. Even though these trucks are important, they can also be very dangerous for various reasons. So, why are commercial trucks so dangerous? Let’s take a look at the reasons.

One of the most common reasons why commercial trucks are so dangerous is the size of the truck. These trucks are long, wide and heavy. The weight of these trucks makes it difficult for the driver to stop the truck on a dime should there be something happening in front of them or if traffic has come to a halt.

Another reason commercial trucks are dangerous is the inexperience of the driver. Not all truck drivers have been on the road for decades. Many are still learning the ins and outs of driving a large truck, which can easily lead to a tragic accident.

Commercial trucks might also have an oversize load, which could easily cause the truck to tip when it takes a corner or makes a turn. The load could wind up all over the road and even crush vehicles next to the truck.

Other reasons commercial trucks are so dangerous include speed, fatigued driving, impaired driving, quick lane changes, the type of load, unsecured cargo, overloaded cargo and much more.

Trucking accidents are all too common throughout Kentucky. These accidents are mostly caused by truck drivers because of speeding, distracted driving and inexperience. Make sure you know why trucks are so dangerous before coming in contact with commercial trucks so that you can avoid an accident.
