Landrum & Shouse was honored by the LFUCG City Council for thirty-plus years of dedication to the students at the Audrey Grevious Center (formerly known as the Day Treatment Center). In honor of the services provided by the staff of the firm, led by partner John G. McNeill, November 21st was designated as “Landrum & Shouse Day”. Each year the firm plans an annual Christmas party complete with gifts and food for middle school and high school young people at the center. The firm is humbled and grateful to receive such an honor.
Landrum & Shouse sponsored the National Bar Association’s first annual John Rowe Chapter Law Camp, which allowed high school African-American boys to spend a week learning basic legal skills and courtroom decorum. At the end of the week, they did a mock trial presided over by Fayette Circuit Court Judge Pamela Goodwine with jurors including Landrum & Shouse’s law clerks.
Partner John McNeill, on behalf of the Firm, organizes a campaign for kids in the YMCA system and many members of the Firm contribute to assist the kids’ programs in the local YMCA.
Partner Jeff Taylor has been support counsel for our local Hospice of the Bluegrass unit on a pro-bono basis.
Partner Elizabeth Deener is on the Lexington Philharmonic Board, formerly on the OWL Board (job training charity for people with special needs and/or leaving the penal system), formerly on Lexington Art League (oldest arts charity in Lexington, located in a minority neighborhood and which engages in community/neighborhood outreach). She personally supports the Kentucky Aviation Museum/Hall of Fame, Lexington Vintage Dance Society and sat on the Lexington Junior League Board (provides grants to myriad women and children’s charities locally).
Partner Beth Winchell currently serves as the chair of the Kentucky Defense Counsel CLE committee, which is the Kentucky DRI affiliate.

Step by Step as a corporate sponsor:
- Landrum & Shouse recently partnered with Step by Step and became a corporate sponsor in 2019. This local faith-based organization helps young, single mothers find housing, childcare, medical care, and basic necessities so that they can return to school, finish their education, and become self-sufficient.
Ronald McDonald House in both Lexington and Louisville:
- Ronald McDonald House provides local housing and meals for families with a hospitalized child and provides help in obtaining basic medical and dental care in various cities. Landrum & Shouse has made annual contributions to RMH since 2014.
Shop with a Cop:
- Lexington Police are paired up with local kids in need where they are invited to shop for themselves and family members during the Christmas season. Landrum & Shouse has annually sponsored two children for over 15 years.
Mark Hinkel Pedaling Forward:
- This organization, developed by the widow of Landrum & Shouse Partner Mark J. Hinkel after he was tragically killed on a bike in 2015, supports local children in need with bikes in honor of Mark. Landrum & Shouse has proudly supported this organization since its inception.
Pavo Loco Tennis Tournament:
- This tournament is a dedicated fundraiser for the Kids Cancer Alliance, which sponsors camps for children and siblings suffering from cancer, as well as financial support for families related to treatment. Landrum & Shouse has continued to support this event for over four years.
Fayette County Bar Association Young Lawyers Annual God’s Pantry Thanksgiving Drive:
- Members of the Firm annually devote funding and food to assist our community’s most needy through the Fayette County Young Lawyers Thanksgiving Food Drive held through God’s Pantry Food Bank. This organization is a member of Feeding America. The mission of Feeding America is to create a hunger-free America. Our network includes more than 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations serving every county in the U.S. In Kentucky, God’s Pantry Food Bank is a member of Feeding Kentucky. There are seven Feeding America Food Banks working together in Kentucky to maximize our effectiveness in serving the state.
Fayette County Bar Association Young Lawyers Annual School Supply Drive:
- For at least 15 years, members of the Firm annually devote resources during a citywide school supply drive for elementary and middle school-aged children. This includes contributions and/or purchasing and delivering all types of school supplies, backpacks and equipment to those schools.
Toys for Tots Louisville:
- This organization provides toys to children across the Louisville Metro area who might not otherwise have a Christmas to celebrate and Landrum & Shouse and its employees purchased and donated toys for many years.
Pat Smith – Habitat for Humanity (at least 10+ years):
- Habitat supports building local homes for deserving families to strengthen to community at large and Landrum & Shouse has donated funds annually for over 10 years.
